Lost Surfboards – officially known as Lost International – was founded in 1993 by Matt "Mayhem" Biolos in San Clemente, California. Biolos started as a young shaper building boards for friends and local surfers, quickly developing an idiosyncratic, experimental style. The brand grew alongside the careers of a generation of progressive surfers who shaped new school surfing in the late 1990s and 2000s. Biolos is known for testing shapes that other shapers initially considered impractical – and regularly being proven right.

The Lost range includes a wide variety of surfboard shapes: from classic high-performance shortboards and fish to hybrid shapes and experimental models. Legendary shapes like the Round Nose Fish and the Sub Scorcher have influenced generations of surfers. Lost works closely with a group of signature athletes – including Dane Reynolds, Kolohe Andino, and Mick Fanning – to develop models that emerge directly from contest and freesurf use. In addition to boards, Lost also offers a clothing line with boardshorts, t-shirts, and hoodies that reflects the brand's unconventional character.

Lost stands for the creative, anti-establishment side of surfing. The brand does not take itself too seriously, but Biolos takes the craft of shaping deeply seriously. This combination of self-deprecation and technical expertise makes Lost one of the most interesting shaper brands on the market.
