Pyzel Surfboards was born in 1995 in a backyard "shaping room" on the North Shore of Hawaii, and has since grown into a world-leading surfboard company.

Shaper Jon Pyzel grew up in Santa Barbara, California and started surfing when he was in middle school and before long he was hooked. Matt More started shaping surfboards for Jon and added him to his team. Matt constantly tried to share ideas and principles about surfboard design with Jon and let him help shape them.

Jon decided to permanently move to the North Shore of Oahu in 1992 to surf the perfect waves in the warm water. There he found work and was able to Repair surfboard things at County Surfboards . Jon quickly learned the tricks and intricacies of manual labor when he worked as a hot coater and laminator. Not long after, he teamed up with master shaper Jeff Buschman, who gave him guidance, input and encouragement. Eventually, Jon got a job as his back-shaper, which was the beginning of his career.

A crucial moment came a few years later when, in 1998, Alex Florence received an order to build a board for John John Florence. At this point, John John was only 5 years old. From then on the two worked together and almost 20 years later John John Florence became world champion in 2016 and was considered by many to be the "best surfer alive", all together with Pyzel Surfboards. The collaboration with John John is considered a milestone by Jon Pyzel, not only thanks to the world championship title and his surfing skills, but also because of the priceless feedback, his positive attitude and gratitude.

Pyzel Surfboards is a brand that didn't just want to do business, it was more about the passion for surfing and everything about it - traveling, getting to know new countries, new cultures, forming friendships and experiencing adventures. But mostly because they have a passion for surfboards.

Today Pyzel Surfboards has grown into a large international company and is still run by the family.
