Pyzel Surfboards was born in 1995 in a backyard "shaping room" on the North Shore of Hawaii, and has since grown into a world-leading surfboard company.
Shaper Jon Pyzel grew up in Santa Barbara, California and started surfing when he was in middle school and before long he was hooked. Matt More started shaping surfboards for Jon and added him to his team. Matt constantly tried to share ideas and principles about surfboard design with Jon and let him help shape them.
Jon decided to permanently move to the North Shore of Oahu in 1992 to surf the perfect waves in the warm water. There he found work and was able to Repair surfboard things at County Surfboards . Jon quickly learned the tricks and intricacies of manual labor when he worked as a hot coater and laminator. Not long after, he teamed up with master shaper Jeff Buschman, who gave him guidance, input and encouragement. Eventually, Jon got a job as his back-shaper, which was the beginning of his career.
A crucial moment came a few years later when, in 1998, Alex Florence received an order to build a board for John John Florence. At this point, John John was only 5 years old. From then on the two worked together and almost 20 years later John John Florence became world champion in 2016 and was considered by many to be the "best surfer alive", all together with Pyzel Surfboards. The collaboration with John John is considered a milestone by Jon Pyzel, not only thanks to the world championship title and his surfing skills, but also because of the priceless feedback, his positive attitude and gratitude.
Pyzel Surfboards is a brand that didn't just want to do business, it was more about the passion for surfing and everything about it - traveling, getting to know new countries, new cultures, forming friendships and experiencing adventures. But mostly because they have a passion for surfboards.
Today Pyzel Surfboards has grown into a large international company and is still run by the family.
Pyzel Surfboards Phantom 6'0" (FCS2, 3 fins)
Regular price SFr. 764.90 Save SFr. -764.90The Phantom is the step-down version of John John Florence's current favorite, the Ghost.
When we first released the Ghost, we had no idea that its unique design would be embraced by so many people in so many different types of waves. The one feedback we kept hearing was that it works best in shoulder height waves and higher, so we set out to create a step down board that would bring the same feel to the head high and bottom days , which ultimately make up most of our daily surfing sessions.
The Phantom is a Ghost that's squashed, beefed up and given an extra volume, ideal for your everyday sessions in less than epic situations.
We stock the same Ghost rocker, but we've added more single concave to flatten it through the middle, which helps generate speed and flow without deviating from the overall performance or feel of the original design.
The extra width in the tail and nose creates a more parallel, fuller contour that helps increase speed through slower sections and tight turns.
The rals are full but not chunky, bringing more float and speed without sacrificing the sensitivity we all love in our boards.
Best in waist-deep to slightly overhead waves of all types, the Phantom is your everyday driver with a high-performance edge.

Pyzel Surfboards Pyzalien 2 6'0 -Futures
Regular price SFr. 764.90 Save SFr.

Pyzel Surfboard Red Tiger 6'0 FCSII
Regular price SFr. 769.90 Save SFr. -769.906'0" | 19 1/2" | 2 1/2" | 31.00L |
The Red Tiger is the new high performance shortboard from John John Florence that is different from all other boards we have released to date.
It's the ultimate performance machine for small/medium, slower, weaker waves, based on John's simple instructions - make it fast and fun.
The idea for this board came about when John started riding different fun boards during his breaks from competition. His favorite last year was by far our new Flat Rockered Funformance board, the White Tiger (5'6"), and he asked me to convert that design into something he could take on tour to ride when the surf is not pumping as much or is rather weaker.
The outline is a bit clumsy for a HPSB, but the wide tip sits a few inches back from the center, so the focus of surfing is in the middle to back half of the board. The wider tail block squash helps keep the area in the tail, providing lift and drive, and also helps create pop when getting airborne. A moderate hip on the front fins creates a break in the outline to create a pivot point that allows for tighter turn radii and release in the lip.
The rocker and bottom contour are what sets this board apart from other boards in this category. It's our flattest HPSB yet and this rocker ensures easy, consistent speed from the moment you stand up, through flat sections and even in super weak, small waves. But flat rocker can feel sticky and tends to make you surf flat, so we ran a single to double concave (JJF's preferred bottom contour) through the front 2/3 of the board and then rolled that into a significant double concave/deep vee -Let the combination pass through the fins and the tail. This bottom makes the flat board easy to roll from rail to rail, and the vee on the tail allows for easy vertical surfing and short carves, even in tight, pockmarked waves.
The thickness gradient (foil) from nose to tail is balanced and clean, with the front part of the board being only slightly thinner than the back half. The deck is flat, leaving more foam (volume) towards the rails. The actual rails are full right at the outline (under the heel of your hand when you hold the board under your arm), but taper to maintain sensitivity and bite.
Drive your Red Tiger about an inch shorter than normal HPSB, and a bit wider. The volume should be close, but go to ½ to 1 liter for extra oomph in weaker waves. The board will transform your everyday sessions into something special with ease and we believe it will outperform any other HPSB in weak waves AND still come through when the surf turns up!
Pyzel Board agents personally recommend rocking the JJF Techflex Futures or FCS II Performer fins with your Red Tiger.

Pyzel Surfboards Shadow 5'11" FCSII 28L

- PU material

5'11" | 18 7/8" | 2 3/8" | 28.00L |
The new high-performance shortboard addition to the Ghost family.
Already a favorite of John John Florence, Jack Freestone and the rest of our team, it's the board that lets you surf how you want in a wide range of wave conditions and size.
Knowing that the Phantom is a great board for many types of conditions, Jon decided to start with there and redesign it as a more refined, high performance board, while still keeping the added flow and glide that defines the Phantom.
The Shadow is designed to give all surfers the advantages of a wider, forward outlined type of board, but in a sleek, high performance package.
✪ Modern foil/outline brings improved stability, paddle power, easy speed/flow in weaker waves.
✪ Rocker and bottom contours combine to generate speed and allow tight, powerful turning in all conditions.
✪ Great for all types of waves from beach breaks to points, reefs and even slabs.
✪ Will help Intermediate surfers elevate their performance levels, while also bringing out the best in more advanced surfers.
The Shadow features a high performance outline, the wide point at center not behind as is typical of most other HPSBs. We pulled in the nose by almost a ½ inch and added rocker through the last 12'' in the nose to keep it freed up through critical turns.
It has a gentle hip for added sensitivity and looseness, and the squash tail is pulled in a touch to tighten the turning radius and improve vertical surfing capability.
Tail rocker and bottom concave remain similar to the Phantom, already proven to work well in everyday conditions around the world.
The thickness flow sets the Shadow apart from other HPSBs, keeping the volume more forward of center but not overly exaggerated. Added foam under the chest area helps add paddle power and gives extra float under your front foot in slower sections, meaning easy speed and flow.
Ride the Shadow your height to an inch over, in your favorite high performance dimensions.

Pyzel Surfboards Mini Ghost 5'9" 30.5L (FCSII, 3 fins)
Regular price SFr. 799.90 Save SFr. -799.90MINI Ghost - Tri-Quad, polyurethane, squash tail
Koa loves to ride tiny boards for the smaller North Shore days, but we needed to pack more volume into them to make them functional and give them paddling power and stability.
We shrunk the Koas 5'9" Ghost to a 5'5" and to give it more buoyancy we widened it a bit, flattened the deck and made the rails thicker and more angular. We've also added a modern beaked nose to keep even more foam under the chest area and up into the nose. The added volume is significant - a 5'10" Ghost XL is 28.80 liters while a 5'7" Mini Ghost is 28.70 liters! We've made a few small changes to the rocker and it comes in either a round tail or a wider bump squash to make the board very fun in smaller, weaker waves.
Overall, it's best described as a retro 80's style board with all the added features of a modern design. It's made for high-performance ripping, but it's also suitable for less experienced surfers due to the added volume and forgiving ride.
The Mini Ghost is designed to be ridden 3-4 inches shorter and has about the same volume as your regular shortboard. It gives your surfing a fresh feel and keeps you happy in all types of conditions and wave types.
