The Rip Curl brand was born in 1969 in a garage on the Gold Coast in Torquay Australia. The two founders of the brand were Doug "Claw" Warbrick and Brian "Sing Ding" Singer. The two started out by shaping surfboards to surf Winter Bells Beach. In December 1969, another local surfer, Alan Green, joined the duo and they began manufacturing wetsuits. From its inception to the present day, Ripcurl has been one of the most recognized and respected surf brands in the world. Rip Curl remains a company founded by surfers for surfers and since then Rip Curl has strived to bring only the best products to market. Rip Curl is proud to count many of the world's best and most ambitious surfers on its team, as well as representing some of the best-known and largest surfing events. Rip Curl will stick to their roots and the spirit that has made them the market leader, but at the same time they will look to the future and continue to work to take surfing to a higher level.
