Lost

The story of ...lost began in 1985 when Matt Biolos and a few high school friends were just doing their own thing: snowboarding at Mt. Baldy, skateboarding at Pipeline in Upland and surfing at Dana Point. They called themselves “Team Lost.” This is how the name ...lost came about, which was scrawled on books, T-shirts, benches, tables and finally on clothing.

The Lost Surfboard brand began in 1985 with now legendary shaper Matt Biolos and a group of high school friends who formed "Team Lost" and split their time between snowboarding at Mt. Baldy, skateboarding at Upland on the Pipeline, and surfing at Dana Point. Team Lost scribbled their name on books, shirts, tables and eventually a clothing brand was born.

In 1987, Lost Head shaper Matt Biolos started sharpening surfboards fresh out of high school. He adopted the name "Mayhem" (an ode to the second model he sculpted).

Matt 'Mayhem' Biolos formed 20 boards in his first year. To make money, he continued sanding surfboards and began putting a handwritten LOST on them wherever he could.

Surfers like Christian Fletcher and Matt Archbold were painted by Biolos. By working with some big names in the California shaping scene like Timmy Patterson, Jim Fuller, Terry Senate and Randy Sleigh, and receiving feedback from top surfers, he was able to further develop his shaping skills and turn the Lost brand into a worldwide phenomenon.
