This sexy, versatile twin-finned pintail is a collaboration between Britt Merrick and one of the most stylish surfers in the world, Mikey February. The two wanted to create a board that offers all the fun of a twin, but has enough hold and projection so that you never wish for a third fin or trailer again. It was designed as an all-rounder and helps you master everything from weak, small waves to double overhead waves.
From nose to tail, the bottom is flat, then slightly rolled and V-shaped in the back half, creating a butter-smooth board that is both responsive and solid. The rails are low, so most people ride the Twin Pin at least 1/8” thicker than their shortboard. It works best with the special twin fin template that Britt designed specifically for this board. It sits between a keel and an upright fin, offering the right balance of drive, hold, and maneuverability.
The Twin Pin can be ridden with various dimensions, depending on what you want to do, ride, and feel. Mikey February surfs a 6'0” shortboard and likes his Twin Pins in 5'9” and 5'11” lengths so they are suitable for all conditions worldwide. Tanner Gudauskas likes his Twin Pins in the same length as his regular shortboard for Trestles, and Britt likes to ride his Twin Pins at Rincon a few inches longer than his normal shortboards.
