Why surfskating improves your surfing

Surfskates were originally developed to help surfers train their technique off the water.

Benefits of surfskates for surfers:

  • Training pumping technique
  • Improving rail-to-rail turns
  • Developing muscle memory for cutbacks
  • Training balance and flow
  • Surf-specific movement patterns

Surfskating is an ideal form of land training for surfers, especially in regions with little surf or during the off-season. If you want to deepen your technique, you can also take part in our surfskate summer sessions:

Carver surfskate trucks: CX vs C7

Carver surfskates are available with two different truck systems: C7 and CX.

Both create the typical surfskate carve, but differ in ride feel and intended use.

CX vs C7 - The main differences

Feature C7 Truck CX Truck
Ride feel Very surfy Surfy with a skate feel
Stability Slightly looser More stable
Technology Spring + pivot system Reverse kingpin
Usage Surf training, carving Pumptrack, park, cruising

In short:

C7 = as close to surfing as possible

CX = sporty all-round surfskate

Which board length suits you?

The length of a surfskate heavily influences how the board rides.

Mini Surfskates (approx. 26" – 29")

  • very tight turns
  • easy to pump
  • ideal for small spots or parking lots

Short Surfskates (approx. 29" – 33")

  • versatile
  • good mix of pumping and pushing
  • very popular for surf training

Longer Surfskates (34" – 38")

  • more stable
  • faster when pumping
  • ideal for cruising

Generally:

  • shorter boards feel snappier
  • longer boards offer more stability

Collaborations

Carver collaborates with various surfboard shapers and skate brands to translate different surf styles onto surfskates.

Among the best-known collaborations are …Lost Surfboards, Channel Islands, Loaded, and GRLSWIRL. The models are often based on classic surfboard shapes and bring their ride feel to the asphalt.
