              ION was founded in 2005 by Boards & More GmbH in Fehmarn, Germany – an island in the Baltic Sea known for its constant winds and as a kitesurfing paradise. This origin explains a lot about the brand: ION does not come from the Hawaiian or Australian surfing tradition, but from the European windsurfing and kitesurfing scene. The goal was to develop technical equipment for kitesurfers that could withstand the harsh conditions of North Sea winds – robust harnesses, functional wetsuits, and reliable accessories.

              Over the years, ION has developed into one of the leading brands in the kitesurfing and windsurfing sector and is now also present in the wing foiling and surfing segments. The wetsuit range includes models for kite, windsurf, and surf – from thin springsuit models to thick fullsuits for cold water. The harness line is particularly strong: ION develops both waist and seat harnesses with various support concepts and is known among kitesurfers for its fit and comfort. This is complemented by board pads, bindings, wetsuit accessories, and a clothing line. ION is part of the Boards & More group, which also includes Duotone and Fanatic.

              ION stands for a European approach to water sports: technical, functional, and with high quality standards.
