Eva Weiss

Welcome to the team, dear Eva!

At just 17 years old, Eva is our youngest team rider. Less than two years ago, Eva stood in a city wave for the first time and is already surfing her way onto the podium in the contests. But she can also often be found in Bremgarten and stands out with her 'smooth' surfing style :-). We are super proud to have Eva on our team and to be able to support her in her passion!

Tell us something briefly about yourself.

Hi, I'm Eva and I live in Affoltern am Albis. I'm currently training as a 3D poly designer - I decorate, plan, design shop windows and work with all kinds of materials and everything else that goes with it.

In addition to my training, I try to be in the water as often as possible, on the river, on city waves or even in the sea.

How did you become passionate about surfing?

I stood on a surfboard for the first time when I was 8 years old on our 4-month trip to the Canary Islands. The next time I got into surfing was in 2019 during our trip through North America and Costa Rica, where we surfed every now and then. At that age, I was more impressed by the endless shopping miles with all sorts of knick-knacks. If only I had known that I would still love surfing later on.

Later, more and more surf trips to France followed, and I realized that the annual holidays in France were no longer enough. In 2021 my father took me to Bremgarten for the first time and since then I have discovered river surfing. I've been on the city waves a lot for a good year now, so I get to surf regularly.

How long have you been surfing?

I stood on a surfboard every now and then, but I really started in Bremgarten in 2021.

What fascinates you about surfing/why do you do it?

What could be better than gliding over the water, being in the moment and not having to think about anything else. A complete holiday feeling!!
Learn new tricks and just have fun in the water,
as well as traveling to new countries, enjoying lots of delicious food and sunsets on the beach.

You can only choose one place to surf for the rest of your life. Which place would that be - and why?

If only I knew...

Which boards do you prefer for surfing?

Citywave: Semente Poolboard Notorious 5'0
River: Semente Riverboard Slot 5'1
Sea: Pyzel Rat Skull 5'6

How does it feel to be a Surfari team rider?

SUPER COOL!!!
Great shop with a holiday feeling and cool people. Thank you for your support!

Can we talk about a surfing scene in Switzerland? If so, are you active or passive in a club?

Definitely, small but nice. You always see the same faces, be it on the river, on city waves or at contests, that's always super cool. But you also get to know a lot of new people and there is always a good atmosphere.

Yesss, I've been with the Swiss Wave Rippers for over a year, great coaches and a lot of support, so I'm very grateful for that. I am also a member of the Flusswelle Bremgarten association.

What has been your biggest surfing challenge so far?

As a river and pool surfer, I lack a little paddling power. When I finally go to the sea again after a long time, the first few days are a bit hard, haha.

What is your favorite surfing adventure? Describe an anecdote from a surfing trip.

This summer I sat in the lineup with rain and dolphins, which was an incredibly beautiful experience.
