At a tender 17 years old, Eva is our youngest team rider. It hasn't even been two years since she stood in a Citywave for the first time – and she's already surfing her way onto the podium at contests. She can also be found frequently in Bremgarten, where she stands out with her smooth surf style. We are super proud to have Eva on our team and to be able to support her in her passion!

Interview with Eva – Surfari Team Rider

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hi everyone, I'm Eva and I live in Affoltern am Albis. I'm currently training as a 3D polydesigner – I decorate, plan, and design shop windows and work with all kinds of materials. Alongside my training, I try to be in the water as often as possible, whether it's on the river, on Citywaves, or in the ocean.

How did you get into surfing?
I stood on a surfboard for the first time at 8 years old in the Canary Islands. It got really exciting in 2019 during our trip through North America and Costa Rica, although back then I was more fascinated by the endless shopping strips. Later surf trips to France made me realize that the annual vacation wasn't enough anymore – in 2021 my father took me to Bremgarten for the first time. Since then, I've discovered river surfing for myself and I've also been regularly hitting the Citywaves for a year now.

How long have you been surfing?
I really started in 2021 in Bremgarten, even though I had been on a surfboard every now and then before that.

What fascinates you about surfing?
For me, there's nothing better than gliding over the water, being in the moment, and not having to think about anything else – a total vacation feeling! I love learning new tricks, having fun in the water, traveling to new countries, enjoying delicious food, and experiencing sunsets on the beach.

If you could only choose one place to surf, which one would it be?
If only I knew…

Is there a surf scene in Switzerland?
Definitely – small but mighty. You keep running into the same faces, whether at the river, at Citywaves, or at contests, and at the same time you meet many new people. I've been with the Swiss Wave Rippers for over a year, with great coaches and lots of support, and I'm also a member of the Flusswelle Bremgarten association.

What has been your biggest challenge in surfing so far?
As a river and pool surfer, I sometimes lack a bit of paddle power – when it finally goes back to the ocean, the first few days are a bit tough, haha.

Your favorite surf adventure?
This summer I was sitting in the lineup in the rain, and dolphins swam right past me – an incredibly beautiful experience!
