Wie entferne ich ein Surfboard Pad?

How do I remove a surfboard pad?

Removing a surfboard pad requires patience and care to ensure you don't damage the surfboard's deck. Here are instructions on how to remove a surfboard pad from your surfboard:

Materials required:

  • Hairdryer or heat gun
  • Plastic scraper or spatula
  • Acetone (nail polish remover) or isopropyl alcohol
  • Some cotton towels or rags
  • A bucket of warm, soapy water
  • Waterproof gloves (optional)

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Preparation: Make sure the surfboard is dry and clean before you begin removing the pad.

  2. Heating the Adhesive: Use a hair dryer or heat gun to soften the adhesive under the pad. Hold the device about 15-20 cm above the pad surface and move it constantly to heat the pad evenly. This should loosen the adhesive and make removal easier.

  3. Careful removal: Once the adhesive has softened, gently begin to lift one corner of the pad with a plastic scraper or putty knife. Work slowly and steadily to remove the pad layer by layer. Avoid using too much force to avoid damaging the surfboard.

  4. Remove adhesive residue: After the pad is removed, there will likely be adhesive residue left on the deck of the surfboard. Apply some acetone (nail polish remover) or isopropyl alcohol to a cotton cloth or rag and gently rub off any remaining glue. This should loosen any remaining glue.

  5. Cleaning: After removing the remaining glue, rinse the surfboard deck thoroughly with warm, soapy water to remove any remaining glue and solvent. Use a sponge or rag to clean the deck.

  6. Drying: Allow the surfboard to dry completely before using it again or storing it. Make sure there is no more water on the deck.

  7. Optional: If you'd like, after removing the pad, you can polish the deck to ensure it's shiny and looking good again.

It is important to be patient and gentle so as not to damage the surfboard when removing the pad. If you are unsure or have concerns about doing this yourself, it may be helpful to bring your board to our surf shop.
