Carbon nose
The nose has always been the Achilles' heel of a surfboard. Over the years, we at Surfari Surf Shop have seen countless repairs – and have really made many attempts to find the best possible solution. Our goal has always been: less damage and therefore fewer repairs & a longer lifespan for the boards.
We even went so far as to omit the tips entirely on surfboards with a snapped nose – in the hope that they would no longer be able to break. But unfortunately, this did not produce the desired effect in practice either. The most common solutions are Nose Guards, Nose Savers, Ding Tape, aluminum tape (available at hardware stores), and similar products. They help cushion impacts in the pool to some extent, thus resulting in fewer dings.
Since the summer of 2025, we have equipped all test boards for the pool with a carbon nose. This has proven to be very robust – we have had significantly fewer repairs and, consequently, fewer failures of test models compared to the previous year! The carbon reinforcement makes the nose much more resistant and thus reduces exactly the type of damage that we have had to repair much more frequently over the years.
